Bristol Man, 57, Charged In NJ Stabbing

Police were called to a home in North Cape May, near Atlantic City, on Wednesday morning, prosecutors said.

NORTH CAPE MAY, NJ — A 57-year-old Bristol Township man has been charged with attempted murder in a stabbing Wednesday morning in New Jersey.

Prosecutors in Cape May County, near Atlantic City, say that Joseph T. Schroeder, of Westminster Avenue in Bristol, stabbed Vincent Harrington, 50, multiple times at a home in North Cape May.

Officers from the Lower Township Police Department were called to the home Wednesday morning. They found Harrington suffering from his wounds and Schroeder, who was taken into custody without incident.

Harrington was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and was listed Thursday morning in stable condition. Schroeder was taken to Cooper Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries to his hands that prosecutors say he received during the stabbing.

Schroeder was charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was being held at the medical center Thursday until he is medically cleared to be transported to the Cap May County Correctional Center.
