Bristol Police Cracking Down On Illegal Parking

Parking too far from curbs and too close to intersections has blocked school buses and sanitation trucks in the borough, police said.

BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA — Police in Bristol are cracking down on people parking illegally in a way they say is disrupting services like sanitation trucks and school buses.

Borough police said Monday that they've received "many complaints" about those vehicles not being able to navigate streets due to people either parking too close to corners and intersections or too far away from the curb.

"We understand that parking can be an obstacle, particularly on busy streets, so we want to share this message in hopes to limit the violations written to our residents for an avoidable situation," police said in a news release.

If illegal parking blocks service vehicles, trash on entire blocks may not be collected, students may be late for school or coming home traffic problems could occur and the offending driver could get a citation, police said.

Police particularly reminded motorists not to park too far from curbs, not to park along curbs that are painted yellow and not to park so close to an intersection that it obstructs traffic in that intersection.
