A 28-year-old Bristol Township man who hit and killed a 67-year-old pedestrian in a drunk driving crash will serve four to 10 years in state prison, authorities with the Bucks County District Attorney's office announced.

Tyler Buras, 28, pleaded guilty to charges including homicide by vehicle while DUI in the death of Gail Olson of Croydon. Olson was killed on July 2, 2017 while walking along the shoulder of Newportville Road.

Buras, who was driving a 1997 Buick Park Avenue sedan, lost control and hit her.

Prosecutors say Buras told police he drank four or five beers and smoked marijuana earlier in the day. His blood alcohol concentration was at .213 percent after the crash. That's more than 2.5 times the legal limit.

Eight months after the crash, while free on bail and awaiting trial, Buras was arrested for drunken driving again in Bristol Township.

"If killing someone doesn’t wake you up, what will, Mr. Buras?” Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Brian T. McGuffin asked him during sentencing.

McGuffin accepted a negotiated plea in which he imposed an aggravated-range sentence of four to 10 years in prison, followed by two consecutive years of probation.

A condition of the probation is that Buras refrain from drinking alcohol or use any drugs, prosecutors said.
