The PAsmart initiative was launched by Gov. Tom Wolf in response to a future demand for STEM jobs. The state has made available $30 million that will be awarded as grants aimed to "strategically invest" in education and workforce development.
According to the Department of Education, the grants will expand classroom instruction and professional development in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and computer science (CS), as well as training for in-demand careers, emerging industries, and underserved populations.
