A Birtsol Township man who was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl was sentenced Monday to serve 18 months to five years prison time, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.

McHugh sentenced Griffith to a consecutive two years of probation and Griffith is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the DA's office. McHugh also ordered Griffith to have no further contact with the victim or her family, the DA's office said.

The DA's office said the two walked to a shed in Griffith’s back yard, where they smoked the marijuana and Griffith offered the girl vodka. Griffith asked the victim when she turned 18 years old as he placed his hands down her pants and penetrated her vagina with his finger, the DA's office said. Despite the victim telling Griffith to stop, he continued to assault her, the DA's office said.
The DA's office said Griffith then placed the girl’s hand on his penis and asked her to perform oral sex on him, but she refused and left immediately.
Griffith admitted to the assault when confronted by police, the DA's office said. Griffith also admitted to police that he sold marijuana to adults and juveniles in the area, the DA's office said.
He said that he bought the drugs from a friend of his son, and said that he allows his children to use illegal narcotics, the DA's office said.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kristin McElroy and investigated by Bristol Township Police Detective Douglas Slemmer, the DA's office said.
