LEVITTOWN, PA —Officials with the Silver Lake Nature Center and Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation are praising the efforts of firefighters who battled a blaze at Silver Lake Park Saturday.

"We extend a huge thanks —beyond words—to all of the firefighters who worked so hard to safely put the fire out that we had in the forest at SL Park, along the “Silver Lake Trail,” Silver Lake's Facebook post said. See drone footage below.

About 45 firefighters from the Third District Volunteer Fire Company; the Bristol Consolidated Fire Station 50; the Croydon Volunteer Fire Company; Edgely Fire Company, Union Fire Company, Newport Fire Company, and Goodwill, Hose, Hook, and Ladder "saved the forest," the center said.

Levittown Now reported that crews arrived at the area of 2nd Avenue and Route 13 in Bristol Borough for a brush just before 12:40 p.m. Saturday to find that the fire in the county-owned park and nature center was on the Bristol Township side of the border.

The fire on 7.3 acres of the park was near the county park’s maintenance buildings, but no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, the story stated.
