Central Office Core Team Created In Bristol Township School District

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA —Meet the Bristol Township School District's new core team.

At its meeting Monday, the school board approved the District Administration Realignment Plan, which included approving the new Central Office Core Team.

The team is comprised of Superintendent Michael Nitti, Business Manager John Scavelli, Assistant Superintendent Chris Polzer and a new position for Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

The plan goes into effect immediately.

“My goal is to establish a strong and effective Central Office Core Team that will work with the Board to ensure that the district is well-run, the schools are successful and our collective work promotes student achievement,” Nitti said.

As superintendent, Nitti oversees the five main management areas of school districts: fiscal management, curriculum and instruction, operations, governance and personnel. These five areas are then split up among the rest of the core team.

John Scavelli, who begins his tenure as business manager on Jan. 3, will be in charge of fiscal management and governance, with responsibilities including payroll and purchasing, transportation, facilities, food services, and grant accounting.

The Board appointed Polzer to a new role as assistant superintendent and his prior position as director of administration will be phased out.

As assistant superintendent, Polzer will manage operations and personnel with responsibilities including special education services; school culture and climate; equity, efficiency, and achievement; and special projects. He will also serve in the absence of the superintendent.

"I look forward to collaborating with Superintendent Nitti, the School Board, and all the amazing leaders throughout the district," Polzer said. "Each day, we will have students' best interests in mind, build equity and strive to meet the needs of all learners."

The final and new position for the core team is director of curriculum and instruction.

Responsibilities include professional development, teacher evaluation, assessment and data analysis, state and federal grant management, and instructional efficacy.

The school board approved the job description for this role and the district is beginning its comprehensive search to fill the role.

“We are looking for an adaptive expert leader in charge of curriculum and instruction who is focused solely on teaching and learning, and what is going on in the classroom,” Nitti said.
