Community Rallies Around Family Who Lost Home In Levittown Fire

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —A GoFundMe page has been launched for a family who lost their home in a fire on New Year's Eve.

Kelly Zimmerman organized the fundraiser on behalf of Shannan Engle, her aunt whose home suffered heavy smoke damage in a fire Sunday night in the township's Pinewood section.

Zimmerman said the house caught fire "really bad" on New Year’s Eve.

"Their home is considered unlivable and they’re staying in a hotel with two children and two dogs. I’m looking to try and help them during this difficult time," Zimmerman said. "If you know my aunt, she’s the kindest person you’ll ever meet. She’d do the same for you."

Zimmerman asks that any amount of money would help the family during this tough time.

So far, the GoFundMe page has raised more than $20,000 of its $25,000 goal.

The fire is being investigated by the Falls Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

Several fire companies fought the blaze, in which a plume of smoke could be seen for miles nearby.
