Details Emerge In Pregnant Woman's Killing: Report
Jaleel Loper denies strangling Anna Angok, the Bristol Township woman who was his girlfriend and pregnant with his child.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — New details emerged on Wednesday about charges against the man prosecutors say strangled to death his pregnant girlfriend in September in Falls Township.
The Bucks County Intelligencer reports that District Judge Frank W. Peranteau upheld charges of homicide, homicide of an unborn child, stalking and possession of an instrument of crime against Jaleel Loper, 27, of Philadelphia.
Loper is charged in the Sept. 26 death of Anna Angok, 29, who authorities say had tried to end the couple's relationship on the day of her death. Attorneys on Wednesday acknowledged that Loper may have been "obsessed" with Angok and lied about his whereabouts on that day, but say he didn't kill her, the Intelligencer reports.

At Wednesday's hearing, public defender Peter Hall said there is no evidence directly linking Loper to the killing, the paper reported.
But deputy District Attorney Edward Louka argued that Loper's voice can be heard on a recording of a 911 call made shortly after Angok's death. During that call, a man's voice can be heard saying "Please hurry," the paper reported.

According to police, Angok's body was found slumped over on a couch in her Bristol Township apartment shortly after 6:30 p.m. Her 2-year-old daughter was unharmed, and was sitting in a chair next to the couch when police found her, a probable cause affidavit said.
According to an affidavit in the case, Loper and Angok had been in a relationship and Loper knew that she was pregnant. Text messages recovered by investigators showed that she had told Loper earlier in the day that their relationship was over, and that Loper had accused her of aborting their child, the affidavit said.
On Wednesday, a police officer who responded to the scene testified that Angok had bruises on her cheeks, forehead and neck, the Intelligencer reported. He noted that valuables including $600 in cash, two laptops and a large television set, remained inside the apartment.
A detective testified that Angok's phone had received more than 90 texts from six phone numbers through a texting app and that several of those numbers were linked to Loper, according to the paper. Several of the messages were threatening and the sender or senders claimed to be several different people, including Loper's sister, the detective said.
Angok had filed a police report about the messages on Sept. 17.
Loper, who was on parole for robbery at the time of the killing, is next due in court for a formal arraignment on Dec. 28.
