Drunk Man Crashes Into Popular Bucks County Tavern An Hour Before His Birthday: Cops

He rang in his 22nd year of life at the hospital.

Police in Yardley report that an allegedly drunk man crashed into the popular Continental Tavern late Tuesday —just about an hour before his birthday. Police say the suspect, a 22-year-old man, was also drinking alcohol in the car at the time of the crash.

It happened at 10:50 p.m. at Main and Afton streets.

That's when police say Joey Buchter, who court records show turned 22 on Wednesday, crashed a 2008 Ford pick up truck into the tavern.

When officers arrived, the truck had heavy front-end damage. The truck caused damage to the porch, police said. Officers said it was evident Buchter was driving under the influence of alcohol, and was consuming alcohol in the vehicle around the time of the accident.

Buchter suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary Medical Center.

There were no injuries at the tavern, and the driver was not a customer, according to information from the Continental Tavern.

The damage to the porch is cosmetic, not structural, the tavern says. "The Tavern will remain open during repairs, which we hope to have completed soon," according to a Facebook post from the Continental Tavern.

Buchter was charged with excessive speed, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving and Driving under the influence.
