Earned Income Tax Information Session In Falls Township Tuesday
Falls Township enacted a 1 percent EIT on Jan. 1. Residents will have a chance to ask questions about the new tax.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —With a newly-enacted Earned Income Tax, Falls Township will hold an information session to answer questions from residents next Tuesday.
The session is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Falls Township municipal building, 188 Lincoln Highway.
Residents can participate in-person or via zoom. The meeting will also be televised and posted to the Falls Township website.

But since the meeting was inadvertently scheduled on the same day and time as the meeting to discuss the possible Pennsbury-Morrisville school merger, Falls Township plans on offering another meeting if necessary.
Supervisor Chairman Jeff Dence said he was disappointed in Keystone Collections’ notification to residents regarding the EIT. The EIT was approved by supervisors last month.

“It wreaks of a scam letter,” Dence said of the communication from the county-appointed agency for EIT collection for Bucks County municipalities.
Dence said Falls Township wants to keep the community in the loop with proper information, which is why “we scheduled the first (meeting) as soon as we could.”
He said more communication will be forthcoming.
Meanwhile, Falls Township has up a dedicated email address where residents can send EIT-specific questions: eit@fallstwp.com.
The EIT went into effect on Jan. 1.
Bristol Borough, Langhorne Manor, Yardley, Tullytown, and Lower Makefield Township are the only municipalities in Bucks County without an EIT.
Falls Township has enacted a 1 percent EIT to be collected by Keystone Collections Group.
Keystone can answer questions about EIT collection, remittance, and tax return filing. Residents can call 724-978-0300 or visit the Keystone Collections Group website, which features a FAQ page that may answer most EIT questions.
The Earned Income Tax is imposed on earned income, such as wages, salaries, and net profits, but not on unearned income such as interest, dividends, capital gains, alimony, and Social Security.
The EIT only changes where the tax is paid, but not how much.
Instead of taxes being paid to another town, residents’ EIT is paid to Falls Township with the exception of people working in Philadelphia.
The tax would not impact non-working senior citizens, those who are unemployed, or workers who earn less than $8,000 per year.
