GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer

 

Bucks County students entering second through sixth grade are invited to register and attend GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program, a free and fun experiment-oriented course taught by certified teachers to groups of 15 students in two age groups: children entering second and third grades (Level I) and children entering fourth through sixth grades (Level II). GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in partnership with The Franklin Institute and local libraries.

GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program will introduce Bucks County students to the wonders of Genetics with interesting investigations that teach about human chromosomes and genes. Students will build a cell, extract DNA from a strawberry, examine their fingerprints, and construct a DNA molecule.

In Bucks County, GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer program consists of four 45-minute classes given over the course of one week.  Sessions are offered in the morning (Level I: 10 - 10:45 a.m., Level II: 11:15 a.m. – Noon) and in the afternoon (Level I: 1:00 - 1:45 p.m., Level II: 2:15 - 3:00 p.m.).
