Friends Village offers community living rooted in purpose, belonging and choice. Blending Quaker values and active aging, we promote connection and care for one another. Our residents live well, engaged with the wider world and confident they will have support should they need it. Located on two campuses, Friends Village provides independent living and personal care in peaceful settings embedded in residential neighborhoods. Our Paxson Campus is in the heart of Newtown Borough, close to shops, dining and local events. Our Styer Campus, on Lower Dolington Road, boasts raised-bed gardens and walking paths for resident enjoyment. The full calendar of resident-informed programming features lectures, wellness classes, discussion groups and cultural events to promote residents’ intellectual, physical and social well-being. If needed, Friends Village provides our residents with flexible, affordable support in their own apartments through its NeighborCare program. By using our long-tenured and dedicated staff, it is a home care service without the onerous minimum hours or uncertain staffing of agencies. And if care needs increase further, personal care is available in our historic Paxson Hall. What truly sets Friends Village apart is the warm sense of community. While residents remain connected outside of our walls, our small size and intentional approach ensure that each resident is known and know that they genuinely belong – they thrive, make new friends and live well. 11AM – Remember the Ladies: Women in the Time of the American Revolution Lecture L-3 Women played critical roles during the Revolutionary War. Come learn what it was like to be a woman then-Attitudes towards women, health and medicine. What First Ladies Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Martha Jefferson, and Dolly Madison contributed to our nation. What lessons were learned after the war.
2PM – The Declaration of Independence: America's Birth Certificate Lecture L-9 The Whole Story of The Declaration of Independence. The quest for personal rights took hundreds of years to accomplish-and culminated in the writings of our founding fathers, being ever perfected since that time, leading to the freedoms we have in our nation today.
