Ex-NBA Player Leads Pennsbury High Hall Of Fame Class

FALLSINGTON, PA —A former NBA player leads the latest class of five inductees into the Pennsbury High School Hall of Fame.

The school district —which covers Yardley Borough, Lower Makefield Township, Falls Township, and Tullytown Borough —has announced its second Hall of Fame Class ever.

The new members are: Ashley Zampini Ritter, Class of 2003; Corey Cochrane, Class of 2000; Lavoy Allen, Class of 2007; Ryan Newman, Class of 1997; and Dr. Arthur Lendo, Class of 1964.

The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony at Pennsbury High School East on Oct. 12.

The Pennsbury High School Hall of Fame was created in 2022 to honor those graduates who
have demonstrated excellence in their chosen careers.

The hall wall is in the main office lobby at Pennsbury High School West. Wooden plaques with black brass plates adorn the wall identifying each inductee, their year of graduation, and their accomplishments.

After this year, the District will induct new members every other year.

Inductees must have graduated at least 10 years ago to be considered for the honor.

The inaugural class of the Pennsbury High School Hall of Fame consisted of: Robert Costa, Class
of 2004; Hallie Jackson, Class of 2002; Richard Kind, Class of 1974; Mark Shelhamer, Class of

Hall of Fame 2023 Inductees

Lavoy Allen, Class of 2007

A retired basketball star, Lavoy Allen, is the only Pennsbury graduate to be drafted and play in the NBA. While at Pennsbury, Allen helped the Falcons win back-to-back league championships in 2006 and 2007, earned Division 1 scholarship offers to multiple universities and the Big Orange Award.

After graduating from Pennsbury High School in 2007, Allen attended Temple University, where he played in the NCAA tournament for four seasons and was an Atlantic 10 player.

He was the 50th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Allen played for Philadelphia from 2011-2014, when he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. He remained with the Pacers until the end of the 2017 season.

Dr. Corey Cochrane, Class of 2000

Dr. Corey Cochrane currently works at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of
Technology, in the Advanced Optical and Electro-Mechanical Microsystems Group, joining the
organization full-time in 2015 after the completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship
program.

He is a well-respected planetary scientist and engineer at JPL.

With his foundational education from Pennsbury High School, Class of 2000, and Penn State
University (B.S. 2004, M.S. 2007, Ph.D. 2013), which helped foster his passion for space math
and physics, Cochrane is redefining the way magnetometry is performed in space at JPL,
including the conceptualization of next-generation quantum-based magnetometers to the
development of "big-data" algorithmic approaches for subsurface ocean detection and
characterization in icy worlds using magnetometric measurements.

His many professional accomplishments include winning seven awards from NASA-JPL in
recognition of his work, three awards from Penn State, three patents, more than 50 peer-reviewed
publications, and numerous awarded proposals from NASA.

Cochrane is frequently an invited speaker at domestic and international conferences and is leading multiple missions for NASA-JPL as they continue their quest of space exploration and search for life throughout the solar system.

Dr. Arthur Lendo, Class of 1964

Arthur J. Lendo, Ph.D., is a distinguished Pennsbury alumnus with a strong sense of dedication
to family, classmates, school, and community.

A member of the Class of 1964, Lendo is the first and only Pennsbury graduate to endow a fund to support Pennsbury High School students in their academic and co-curricular pursuits.

The Lendo Fellowship Program was established in 2006 to honor his parents and three uncles, who served in the military during World War II.

While attending Pennsbury in the early 1960s, Lendo was a student scholar, athlete, and
leader. Over the years, he became very grateful for the educational, athletic, and leadership
experiences that were made available to him.

They provided a vital foundation for his future accomplishments in professional and community life. The funding of a significant Fellowship endowment is a tangible expression of his appreciation and a vehicle for giving back to the area where he was born and raised.

The Fellowship Program supports and facilitates additional, unique learning opportunities that
will enable today's Pennsbury students to further expand their thinking, abilities, skills, and
perspectives.

The fund also provides some measure of financial assistance to the hard-working parents in the District seeking to improve the lives of their children through enhanced education.

Through his family's namesake Fellowship Program, Lendo hopes to inspire Pennsbury
students to become great leaders, acquire the skills necessary to achieve success in a global
society, and share knowledge with their peers.

Ryan Newman, Class of 1997

Ryan Newman is a managing director at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Newman manages more than $13 billion in client assets, advising Fortune 500 CEOs, Forbes 400 families, entrepreneurs, and founders of high-growth, closely-held or venture-backed companies and select institutions, including foundations and endowments.

He co-founded and leads one of the largest private wealth management teams at Goldman Sachs nationwide and ran the Private Wealth Management Training Program at Goldman Sachs for the past 12 years.

A 1997 graduate of Pennsbury High School, Newman received his bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in philosophy from Penn State University in 2001, where he graduated first in his major from the Schreyer Honors College, serving as the Student Marshal at graduation.

Newman was awarded an undergraduate Thesis Prize for his honor thesis on Fertility Transition in Cameroon. He also won a Thesis Research Grant to travel and live in Cameroon at a United
Nations-sponsored demography institute.

Outside of his professional life, Newman leads philanthropic ventures as well.

He is the president of Amigos de Jesus Foundation, which supports an orphanage for impoverished children in Honduras. Newman also serves on the Board of Trustees at The Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, the Penn State Schreyers Honor College External
Advisory Board, and the Foundation for Free Enterprise, the presenters of the Pennsylvania Free
Enterprise Week.

He has also successfully chaired the last two capital campaigns for the Schreyers Honors College, helping raise over $75 million between the two campaigns.

Ashley Zampini Ritter, Class of 2003

Ashley Z. Ritter, APRN, Ph.D., is a geriatric nurse practitioner and the chief executive officer
of Dear Pandemic. She is also an Embedded Nurse Scientist and the director of clinical care
research at NewCourtland, a provider of housing, health, and care management services in
Philadelphia.

Ritter recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

She integrates her clinical knowledge, health policy training, and research skills to build better systems of care to meet post-hospital needs with the goal of sustained wellness. Her recent work examines the use of nursing homes for care delivery to younger adults, individuals experiencing opioid use disorder, and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Her recent work is funded by the National Institute on Aging and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and is a first-generation college graduate.
