Falls Police Officer Receives First-Ever Award

Falls Township Police Officer John Yeager received an “Officer of the Year” award during a recent Board of Supervisors meeting. Edward Crohe III, commander of Levittown Memorial American Legion Post 960 described Yeager as “the true meaning of patriotism” moments before he presented him with the first-ever award.

Yeager, who’s served 33 years on the police force, is a role model for his peers and the community, according to Crohe. In addition to his supervisors on the police department seeking him out for advice, Yeager “would help any officer,” Crohe said.

Yeager oversees the DARE drug awareness and prevention program at local schools; started the Falls Township Youth Police Academy four years ago; is actively involved with the Community Town Watch; helps with the Great Shredder Events; assists with police clothing donation bins and “gives countless hours of his time,” according to Crohe.

Supervisor Chairman Bob Harvie echoed Crohe’s praise of Yeager, calling him “certainly a very deserving officer.”

“This is truly an honor,” Yeager said after receiving the award.

From here, Crohe said Yeager will be nominated for recognition on the national level as well.
