Falls Seeks Sponsors for Que for the Troops Fundraiser

Falls Township is seeking event sponsors for its eighth annual Que for the Troops fundraiser, which benefits Liberty USO.

Since its inception in 2010, Que for the Troops has raised more than $65,000 for the nonprofit organization, which supports active duty, National Guard and reserve military personnel and their families in Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Liberty USO provides weary traveling military families with hot meals, rest and a shower while awaiting flights. The organization also provides grocery store vouchers to struggling military families and makes sure their children receive needed back-to-school supplies.

Held June 2 and June 3 at Falls Township Community Park in Levittown, the field of up to 75 teams will compete in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned Que for the Troops BBQ competition. More than 30 teams have registered to compete since registration opened Jan. 1. Thousands in cash prizes will be awarded for the best Chicken, Pork, Pork Ribs and Brisket. Contenders can also compete in the Anything Butt and Dessert competitions.

In addition to the bar-b-que competition, the two-day event features a chicken wing eating contest, mechanical bull, plenty of food vendors, a car show, live music, fireworks and various kids’ activities, including inflatable rides and face painting.

Sponsors so far for the 2017 event include First National Bank & Trust Co. of Newtown, SEI and Waste Management.
