Falls Shooting 'Victim' Shot Himself: Police

The 48-year-old man is a convicted felon and is legally prohibited from owning a firearm, according to police.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — A Falls Township man who told officers he'd been a shooting victim actually shot himself, according to police.

On Wednesday, Aug. 14, Keith Schultz, 48, of Anders Drive, told officers who'd been called to his home in the Pennwood Crossing section that he'd been shot on Bristol Pike. Police at the time said they began investigating, but soon found his original report to be false.

After getting a search warrant for Schultz's home, detectives collected evidence including multiple firearms and bullet fragments, a police spokesman said. They also got access to a gun safe in the home.

According to police, Schultz eventually admitted that he had shot himself in the hand.

Schultz, according to police, is a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms. Now, he's charged with illegally possessing a firearm, reckless endangerment and making a false report to police.

He was arraigned on Friday and his bail was set at 10% of $75,000.
