According to an affidavit, Falls Township police officers responded to Moore's Sweetbriar Road residence on April 24, 2016 after she reported her daughter was in cardiac arrest.

Moore later told investigators that she kicked the girl several times in the head and the torso before calling an ambulance, according to an affidavit of probable cause. An autopsy showed Athena died of blunt force trauma and the manor of death was ruled homicide, police said.
