Farry, Lareau Race For House 142: Farry Headed To Win

Incumbent Republican Rep. Frank Farry is hoping to fend off suburban frustration with President Donald Trump to hold onto his seat.

LANGHORNE, PA — In the race for Pennsylvania state House District 142, incumbent Republican Rep. Frank Farry appeared poised to hold off Democratic challenger Lauren Lareau on Tuesday night.

With 37 of 38 districts reporting at about 11:45 p.m., Farry had built a convincing lead, 17,631 to 13,694, in unofficial results.

Farry had only received about 500 more votes than Lareau in this year's primaries, during which both ran unopposed for their nomination. In 2014, Farry won re-election to the seat handily, nearly doubling up Democratic opponent Regina Kiley, 14,758 to 7,878.

Lareau owns a tutoring business and said she got more interested in politics when the Neshaminy school board voted to close Oliver Heckman Elementary, where her son attended, citing a lack of state education funding.

Farry, meanwhile, touted his record as a lawmaker that includes sponsoring a bill in 2011 to designate cancer as an occupational disease for firefighters and a 2015 effort requiring counselors to notify authorities if they are treating sexually violent predators.
