Fire At Laundromat Extinguished In Bristol

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — Firefighters in Bristol Township battled a fire at a laundromat Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were called at 1:17 p.m. to the Jay Laundromat, in the Violetwood Shopping Center in the 6700 block of Mill Creek Road. The fire was in the ceiling above the laundromat's dryers and had been spotted by employees of a neighboring pizza restaurant, according to Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito.

The restaurant workers noticed smoke coming down through their ceiling, he said.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which Dippolito said was caused by paper-backed insulation that was touching an exhaust pipe.

Crews on hand for the fire were from Bristol Township, Edgely, Levittown No. 2, Fairless Hills, William Penn, Newportville, Croydon and Third District, along with Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue, Bristol Township Police and the fire marshal's office.
