Firefighters Battle Chemical-Company Blaze In Bristol
Investigators say an employee was handling a 55-gallon drum of flammable liquid when the drum caught fire.
BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — Firefighters in Bristol Township battled a blaze at a chemical company in the overnight hours early Thursday.
Shortly after midnight, fire crews were called to Dunmore Corporation, on Wharton Road, according to Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito. There, he said, an employee had been working with a 55-gallon drum of flammable liquids when the drum suddenly caught fire.
The firefighters, with help from the building's built-in fire suppression system, were able to extinguish the flames within 15 minutes, Dippolito said.

He said all employees were evacuated safely and there were no injuries.
Investigator continued to look into the cause of the blaze Thursday morning. Dippolito said he is working with the company to determine whether static electricity was the cause.
