First-Ever High School Production of “Kinky Boots” at Truman

Levittown - Truman Drama will perform the highly acclaimed Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” Dec. 5 through Dec. 7, 2019. Harry S. Truman High School has been responsible for the high school pilot productions of “Les Miserables,” “Rent,” “Spring Awakening” and now, “Kinky Boots.”

Inspired by true events, “Kinky Boots” is an exhilarating story about a son who inherits a struggling family-run shoe factory and teams up with a cabaret performer to produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business.

Based on the 2005 film of the same name, the play received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. “Kinky Boots” is based on the uplifting book written by four-time Tony winner, Harvey Fierstein and features a joyous, Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper.

The show will teach audiences that sometimes the best way to fit in, is to stand out, and will have them dancing from their seats.
