Fraudulent Electric Company Scam Warning In Penndel

The Penndel Police Department says a scammer is calling people about turning off their power for non-payment.

PENNDEL BOROUGH, PA —The Penndel Borough Police Department is warning residents and businesses about a fraudulent electric company scam.

Penndel Police said they took a report of a fraudulent electric company scam call to one of the borough's businesses.

Police said if residents or businesses receive such a call threatening to shut off power for non-payment, then they should hang up and call the phone number on the bill or the provider's direct website.

Police are asking residents and businesses not to provide any personal information or payment to anyone who calls on the phone.

Meanwhile, with the school year beginning, police are reminding residents and motorists about the safety of children in school zones.

The school zone speed limit is 15 mph and we take a "zero-tolerance" stance on these violations.

Citations for speeding in a school zone are $622.50 and three points on your driver’s license.

"The safety of our children has always been of the utmost importance to our department," police said.
