BRISTOL, PA —For three years, The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library sat closed at its Radcliffe Street location.

Library officials said the closure was twofold: the Covid-19 pandemic and much-needed renovations. Now the library is back with a grand reopening ceremony on Saturday.

The library —located at 680 Radcliffe St. —had its roof completely redone, said Bobbie Foster, the Grundy Foundation's development and marketing coordinator.

She said the library now features a rooftop terrace with new seating and gardens. In addition, the library has new carpet, paint, a café area, and study rooms.

While the library was closed to the public, it was open for library services like curbside pickup, which many still use to this day, Foster said.

The "grand reopening celebration" features music, food, crafts, and lawn games with festivities starting at 11 a.m.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, attendees can stroll through the renovated garden terraces on the library’s roof and the museum’s reconstructed South Lawn.

A ribbon cutting will kick things off followed by a showcase of the new Library of Things, a live 3D printer demonstration, a group aerial shot, and coffee with Library Director Dana Barber to learn about the library’s latest improvements.

Eyes of the Wild will show a selection of visiting animals in the afternoon. There will also be cake.

Residents can sign up their children for the Summer Quest summer reading program. The 2023 theme “All Together Now” celebrates diversity and community. All children who sign up will receive a Summer Quest bag with everything they need to track their summer reading for a chance to win two free tickets to Sesame Place.

Patrons who participated in Grundy Fest the last few weeks will be entered for a chance to win a Grundy Prize Pack during hourly drawings Saturday.
