BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — A home was destroyed and a firefighter was injured Sunday in a fire in Bristol Township.

Crews were called just before 6 p.m. to the fire, in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue in Bristol. Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the home was heavily damaged and uninhabitable after the blaze.

While battling the blaze, a firefighter from the Edgely Fire Company suffered burns, according to Dippolito. He said the firefighter was treated for his injuries and released.

Dippolito said the fire was caused by an extension cord failure on the home's front porch. The Red Cross is providing the family with temporary housing and essentials, he said.

Responding to the fire were companies from Croydon, Third District, Newportville, Edgely, Union and American Hose, as well as Bristol Township Police and Bucks County and Penndel-Middletown rescue squads.
