I-95 Lane Closures Planned For Scudder Falls Bridge Project
Numerous lane restrictions are planned starting June 5 on I-95 for the multi-million dollar bridge improvement project.

The Lower Makefield Police Department has released a work schedule for the Scudder Falls Bridge replacement project. Numerous lane restrictions and closures are planned, starting as early as June 5. The closures and restrictions will be in place on I-95, as well as Taylorsville Road, Woodside Road, River Road and Route 29.
The bridge, which connects New Jersey and Pennsylvania via I-95, is undergoinga multi-million dollar replacement project. The project, expected to take about four and a half years, is aimed to improve capacity and safety, as well as overall configuration.
Under the project, the current four-lane Scudder Falls Bridge will be replaced with a dual-span structure carrying six lanes of through traffic (three in each direction), and three auxiliary lanes (two northbound, one southbound) for traffic merging on and off the bridge.

Here is the most up-to-date work schedule, according to local police:
- I-95NB In PA (only) a right lane and shoulder will be closed tentatively on 6/8 and 6/8 and also on 6/15 and 6/16 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day. (Emergency Responder access will be limited within these closures). Also short-term right shoulder closures on 6/5 - 6-9 and from 6/12 – 6/16 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Emergency Responder access available).
- I-95SB – In PA (only) a right lane and shoulder will be closed tentatively on 6/12, 6/13, and 6/14 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day (Emergency Responder access will be limited within these closures)
- Taylorsville Road – Periodic Lane restrictions/flagging operations may also be required for punch list work by various utility companies between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/9 and from 6/12 – 6/16. This work is not being performed by Trumbull. (Emergency Responder access available)
- Taylorsville Interchange Ramps – Short-term shoulder closure on I-95 NB ramp to Taylorsville and also from Taylorsville SB to I-95NB from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on 6/15 and 6/16. (Emergency Responder access available)
- Woodside Road – Woodside Road between River Road and Taylorsville Road will be closed from 10 a.m. on 6/12 through 6/15 at 6 a.m. (Emergency Responder access will not be available through this work zone). A detour will be implemented diverting traffic between Mt. Eyre Road and E. Afton Ave. In addition periodic lane restrictions/flagging operations may also be required for punch list work by various utility companies between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/9 and 6/12 – 6/16. This work is not being performed by Trumbull. (Emergency Responder access available).
- River Road (PA) - Periodic Lane restrictions/flagging operations may also be required for punch list work by various utility companies between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/9 and from 6/12 – 6/16. This work is not being performed by Trumbull. (Emergency Responder access available)
- I-95NB – In NJ (only) a right lane and shoulder will be closed from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/9. (Emergency Responder access available)
- I-95SB – In NJ (only) a right lane and shoulder will be closed from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on 6/7 (Emergency Responder access available)
- Route 29 – Install 29SB detour on 6/5 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day. (No Emergency Responder access available follow attached detour plan). Close right lane on Route 29NB on 6/6 from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the next day. (Through lanes open for Emergency Responders)
- Route 29 Interchange Ramps – Short-term shoulder closures to install advance warning signs from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on 6/5 – 6/9 and on 6/12 – 6/16. (Emergency Responder access available
No work is scheduled to be performed over the weekend of June 10 and 11 or the weekend of June 17 and 18, police said.
