Inmate Who Died At Bucks Co. Prison From Bristol Township: Coroner

Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said the cause of death of the Bucks County Correctional Facility ​inmate Monday is under investigation.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The identity of an inmate who died at the Bucks County Correctional Facility Monday has been revealed, the county coroner said.

Octavius Davis, 35, of Bristol Township’s Croydon section, was found in the Doylestown facility unresponsive, Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said.

Buck said the cause of death remains under investigation and that toxicology samples have been sent out.

Davis, according to court records, had previously faced misdemeanor drug-related offenses in recent years. He was sentenced to probation last year and recently was called up for a probation/parole violation hearing., Levittown Now reported.

Davis' death is among four other reported deaths at the jail in the past year — three inmates died by suicide and one died of natural causes in 2022, according to the Bucks County Herald.

The jail reported two suicides in 2018 and one each in 2019 and 2020, the outlet reported.

Bucks County Detectives and the Department of Corrections Investigations Unit are investigating the death, officials said.
