Landmark Lower Bucks Co. Restaurant Owners Address Sale

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The owners of Georgine's, a landmark family-owned Bristol Township restaurant since 1977, have made a statement regarding the recent announcement that the establishment has been put up for sale.

According to LoopNet, the property at 1320 Newport Road in the township's West Bristol section was recently listed for sale at $3.8 million.

"Many people are now aware that Georgine's is taking offers to be sold at a future date," the statement posted on the restaurant's Facebook page states. "This decision was a difficult one since this business has been part of the community for 50 years."

The restaurant was founded in 1977 by brothers Roy and Michael Nagle and named after their mother Georgine. It started as a small neighborhood bar.

The business has recently been run by Rosie Reifsneider, her husband, Executive Chef Dave Reifsneider, Michael Nagle, and his wife Kim. All are getting close to retirement, said the statement, which is signed by all four.

The restaurant has earned a reputation as a landmark location where thousands of families have dined or celebrated with families and friends momentous occasions like weddings, baby showers, and birthdays.

"This kind of business is more a way of life," Dave Reifsneider said. "It takes so much time. You grow into it and it grows into you. We've all had family with grandkids and we want to spend more time with them."

For the past year, the owners have talked with prospective buyers who understand the goals and conditions for the business to be passed onto a new owner.

"Our goal is to find someone who has the passion to keep the same concern for our customers, providing quality food and service at good value," the statement said.

The business said it has upgraded the kitchen and dining areas over the past few years along with its banquet rooms.

"We hope that people will continue to make us a destination for dining or special occasions in our banquet rooms," the statement reads.

Georgine's will still be booking banquets, special occasions, and weddings as part of the sale agreement to be fulfilled by the new owner.

Once a sale takes place, the owners will work with the new owners as they transition to keep Georgine's name as a place for families to celebrate or dine, the statement concludes.
