PA Camp Counselor Sexually Assaulted 3 Kids At YMCA Camp: Prosecutor

The campers were under the age of 13, officials said. They attended Camp Bernie in NJ when the Levittown man reportedly assaulted them.

LEVITTOWN, PA — A Levittown man is accused of engaging in sexual contact with three campers while working as a counselor at a New Jersey YMCA camp.

All three campers were under the age of 13, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said.

Joshua F. Daranijo, 24, was arrested and charged on Wednesday with three counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact and three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Robeson's office said.

Daranijo was first accused of "acting inappropriately" with children at Camp Bernie facilities in Hunterdon County.

He was then put on leave pending an investigation into the allegations, Ridgewood YMCA President and CEO Ernest Lamour said.

The Ridgewood YMCA runs Camp Bernie, which is located in Lebanon Township.

Daranijo is currently being held in the Warren County Jail pending his first court appearance.
