A Levittown man is facing federal charges after authorities say he collected his mother's Social Security for 27 years following her death.

A Levittown man is facing federal charges after authorities say he collected his mother's Social Security benefits for 27 years following her death.
Brian Randall, 65, has been charged with one count of theft of government funds, United States Attorney Zane David Memeger said.
According to information from Memeger's office, Randall received more than $295,000 in Social Security benefits intended for his mother from the time of her death in February 1988 until October 2015.

If convicted, Randall defendant faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a three‑year period of supervised release, restitution to the government of $295,223, a possible fine, and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher E. Parisi.
