Levittown Man Charged With Thefts From Cars

LEVITTOWN, PA — A Levittown man has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of thefts from cars in Newtown.

Newtown Township Police have charged 26-year-old James McCarthy of Levittown following an investigation. Authorities allege McCarthy targeted cars in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center and North State Street.

"Many of the thefts included personal items as well as recently purchased Christmas gifts," according to information from police.

McCarthy was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle.

He was arraigned Wednesday, Jan. 23.

McCarthy remains in Bucks County prison after failing to make bail, which was set at 10 percent of $50,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11, court documents show.
