Levittown Man Gets 7 Years In NJ Prison For Child Sexual Assault

Joshua F. Daranijo was sentenced for sexual contact with children under age 13 while serving as a N.J. camp counselor, authorities said.

LEVITTOWN, PA —A Levittown man has been sentenced to seven years in prison this week to sexual assault while serving as a counselor at a New Jersey camp last August, authorities said.

Joshua F. Daranijo, 24, of Levittown, was sentenced before Hunterdon County (N.J.) Superior Court Judge Angela F. Borkowski on May 12 to concurrent seven-year terms in New Jersey State Prison, Hunterdon County (N.J.) Prosecutor Renée Robeson said.

Daranijo was sentenced on three counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for knowingly possessing items depicting the sexual exploitation of a child, as well as to a five-year term on a count of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Under the No Early Release Act, that will require him to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, authorities said.

In late January, Daranijo admitted in court to sexual contact with children under the age of 13 and to possessing child sexual abuse material while a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Bernie in Ridgewood, N.J.

Upon his release, Daranijo will be required to register as a sex offender and be subject to parole supervision for life.

The sentence follows a guilty plea as a result of an investigation conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit.
