Levittown Man To Helm MTV

Chris McCarthy already serves as network president of VH1 and Logo.

Chris McCarthy, a Levitttown native and Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, Penn, and Drexel grad, is taking the reins at MTV, according to reports.

McCarthy, 41, will serve at president of the media powerhouse, taking over the creative and business side of the network, according to Philly.com.

Before being named president of MTV, McCarthy has served, and still serves, as president of the VH1 and Logo network, Philly.com reports. MTV, VH1, and Logo are all owned by Viacom.

According to the entertainment news site Deadline.com, Viacom is betting on McCarthy will boost MTV's ratings, which have been dropping over the last five years. McCarthy has a track record of earning solid ratings and even helped Logo earn its first Emmy.

Philly.com reports McCarthy started his career with MTV back in 2006, when he signed on as a marketing executive for mtvU, the network's college-focused channel.
