Justin Mohn, 32, faces first-degree murder charges, abuse of a corpse, and possession of an instrument of crime with intent for killing his father, who was found beheaded in the Upper Orchard Drive home. He is being held in Bucks County Prison without bail.
Schorn said that Mohn had purchased a gun the day before the crime Tuesday at a Croydon gun shop. She said the gun was purchased legally.

"He surrendered his medical marijuana card," the district attorney said. "He had a clear state of mind having planned what he carried out."
Schorn said that Mohn had no history of mental health issues.
Mohn posted a 14-minute YouTube video in which he ranted about the federal government and showed the decapitated head of Michael Mohn, 68, an employee with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
In the YouTube video, Mohn said his father was "in Hell for being a traitor to his country. Mohn also gave orders for all militia to kill federal employees and ordered that FBI, IRS and federal government employees be arrested before being executed.
"The video being up so long was incredibly concerning," Schorn said. "It was quite horrifying how many views it received before being taken down."
After fleeing the scene, Mohn was captured at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County, authorities said.
The Middletown Township Police Department pinged Mohn's phone and identified his location and at Fort Indiantown Gap.
Authorities said that Mohn drove past barricades, and climbed a barbed wire fence to enter the secured military installation. State Police and Fort Indiantown Gap Police caught him trespassing with a loaded 6 .mm handgun that was missing one round.
Authorities said that Mohn was there to mobilize the state National Guard. He also wanted to speak to Gov. Josh Shapiro to join his efforts against the federal government.
Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said that Mohn was detained there without incident.
"Fort Indiantown Gap Police did an incredible job responding," the chief said. "I'm very grateful for getting that apprehension as quickly as they did."
The police chief said that they had three prior incidents regarding Mohn.
One involved an argument he had with someone on his driveway which led to no charges. Another was from Mohn himself who said he was being threatened by an Ohio insurance office, and the third was from a Philadelphia employer seeking police advice on how to terminate Mohn due to his odd behavior.
"This is an ongoing investigation that will go on for months," Schorn said. "Our thoughts are with this family. This is truly unimaginable for them."
