Mardi Gras Celebration Starts 2024 Season At Sesame Place

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Sesame Place Philadelphia is letting the good times roll as it opens for the season on Saturday with its second annual family-friendly Mardi Gras Celebration.

The event includes the Sesame Street Mardi Gras Parade with everyone’s favorite furry friends dressed in their Mardi Gras best. There's also soaring, spinning, whirling, and twirling on Sesame Street-themed attractions, and Mardi Gras-themed entertainment, photo opportunities with Sesame Street characters, and exclusive all-new perks for Season Pass Members.

The Mardi Gras Celebration is included with park admission and runs through Sunday, March 19, at the Middletown Township amusement park.

All-new for this year’s Mardi Gras Celebration is Cookie Monster & Chef Gonger’s Pizza Party, where guests can make their very own festive and flavorful pizzas at Elmo’s Pizza Kitchen. To top off this interactive and exclusive experience, foodie friends Cookie Monster and Chef Gonger will also meet and snap photos with guests.

Guests can also anticipate the return of fan-favorite Mardi Gras fun and top-tier entertainment, including:

• “Elmo the Musical, Live!” – This interactive and imaginative stage show will return to Sesame Studio Theater exclusively during the Mardi Gras Celebration for a limited-time engagement.
• The Sesame Street Mardi Gras Parade – Everyone’s favorite furry friends will be dressed to the nines to celebrate Mardi Gras with sparkling floats, fancy dancing and lively music in a must-see, family-friendly celebration that rolls right through the Sesame Street Neighborhood.
• Mummers Band Shows – On select weekends, guests can dance along to music from the award-winning Quaker City String Band at Oscar’s Wacky Taxi Stage.

During the Mardi Gras Celebration, guests can gather for a cozy Sesame Street Storytime on the upper level of Elmo’s Pizza Kitchen, earn a special prize in the Mardi Gras Mask Scavenger Hunt, and spot strolling entertainment throughout the park, including sensational stilt walkers and bead bike brigades!

The park will serve up mouth-watering menu items made famous by the city of New Orleans at the Mardi Gras Dine with Elmo & Friends, Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck, and the Plaza Carts. Tasty Mardi Gras-inspired treats include jambalaya, hush puppies, beignets, and a variety of flavored funnel cakes.
