Middletown Twp Police Hosting 'Shop With A Cop' Program

Police in Middletown Township are now accepting names for children to participate in the Shop with a Cop event.

Shop with a Cop, in its second year, teams kids up with an officer who helps them shop for presents at the local Target. "We will have breakfast for them, Santa should be making an appearance for photos and there should be an arts and craft thing going on as well while they wait their turn," Officer Melissa Robison said in an email to Patch.

This year, Robison expects as many as 60 children to participate. Donations for the program are raised through National Night Out, the Indoor Marketplace and private donations from residents and local businesses.

"The officers love doing it and I think it is a great experience for the kids and family," Robison said.

This year, Middletown Township police is teaming up with Lower Southampton Police Department, who will be bringing 18 kids with them as well.

Police are looking for children who have families that may be struggling financially, have a sick parent or sibling, or has a parent that is a deployed in the military. If you know of someone that would benefit from this gift giving opportunity, email mrobison@mtpd.org.
