Mosquito Spraying In 3 Lower Bucks Co. Towns Tuesday

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Mosquito spraying will take place in three Lower Bucks County communities on Tuesday night.

The Bucks County Department of Health Mosquito Disease Control Program will spray at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Bristol Township, Falls Township and Middletown Township to reduce high populations of nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus.

The treatment will be administered using truck-mounted equipment to treat mosquito habitats in residential neighborhoods and park areas.

Trucks used during the application are identified by Bucks County seal logos displayed on the doors.

The equipment dispenses Duet at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. This product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations.

The application has very low toxicity to mammals and is expected to have negligible impacts on non-target insects and the environment.

Certain mosquito species can carry West Nile virus, which may cause West Nile encephalitis, an infection that results in inflammation of the brain.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of infection.

Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel this treatment operation. If conditions do not allow application on Tuesday, Wednesday will serve as the back-up treatment date.

Bristol Township

Treatments will occur in Bristol Township areas bounded by Magnolia Drive, Begonia Lane, and Birch Drive.

Falls Township

Areas in Falls Township will also be treated in areas bounded by Bridge Drive, Tanglewood Lane, Thornridge Drive, and Timber Lane.

Middletown Township

Areas in Middletown Township will be treated in areas bounded by Cambridge Drive, Langhorne-Newtown Road (Route 413), Sunny Hill Drive, Park Road, Taylor Drive, Heatons Mill Drive, Windham Drive, Shelton Lane, and Alberts Way.
