Neshaminy Middle Schooler Hit By Car While Boarding Bus

Breaking: A Carl Sandburg Middle School​ student was hit by a car while attempting to board a school bus Wednesday morning, authorities say.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Carl Sandburg Middle School student was hit by a car while attempting to board a school bus Wednesday morning in Middletown Township, officials with the Neshaminy School District have confirmed. The student was injured and transported to St. Mary Medical Center. His condition is not presently known, but authorities do not believe the injuries are life-threatening.

According to Neshaminy Community Relations Coordinator Chris Stanley, the incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. as the student was walking across Woodbourne Road near the Woodbourne Apartments. The student was approaching a Neshaminy school bus that was stopped at a regular stop to pick up students.

"We do not have specific information on the condition of the student at this time but do not believe the injuries to be life threatening," Stanley said.

Police and an ambulance were immediately dispatched, and the striking vehicle and driver remained at the scene.

The bus dropped the rest of the students off at Carl Sandburg Middle School with help from additional Neshaminy drivers, Stanley said. Those students were offered counseling once they arrived, and their parents were notified about the incident.

The district is cooperating fully with the Middletown Township Police into the investigation regarding this incident.
