Neshaminy School Closed Due To Gas Leak

The carbon monoxide leak was fixed by Friday afternoon and school is scheduled as usual on Monday, district officials said.

LANGHORNE, PA — An elementary school in the Neshaminy School District will be open again on Monday after being shut down Friday because of a carbon monoxide buildup.

District officials said Herbert Hoover Elementary School was closed because of high levels of the dangerous gas caused by a mechanical system failure. In a Facebook post, the district said that an exhaust fan malfunctioned, causing the buildup.

The gas came from a dishwasher water heater and the school was closed to allow it to be properly ventilated and for the problem to be fixed. According to officials, the school's carbon-monoxide detectors worked properly and alerted the staff to the problem.
