There's a new principal at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School.

LEVITTOWN, PA — There's a new principal at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School.

The Neshaminy School Board of Directors on Wednesday approved the appointment of Amy Orlando, Ph.D. as the new Principal of Albert Schweitzer Elementary School in Levittown.

Orlando will replace outgoing Principal Clarke Stoneback, who is returning to the classroom as a music
teacher in the district. Stoneback will be assisting with the transition, the district said in an announcement.

According to information from the district, Orlando has an extensive background in teaching and educational leadership.

Dr. Orlando has served as Assistant Principal at Simmons Elementary School in Horsham since November 2013. Previously, she held the positions of Technology Specialist, teacher for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes, and K-12 Supervisor of Special Projects for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District in Pennington, NJ between 1998 and 2013. She was a 4th grade teacher in Bridgeton, NJ in 1997-1998 and is no stranger to Neshaminy having taught in the district as a substitute teacher in 1997 and completing a portion of her student teaching at Tawanka Elementary School in 1996.
She is a graduate of the Drexel University’s Ph.D. Educational Leadership Program, where she earned her
Doctor of Philosophy: Educational Leadership and Learning Technologies degree in June 2005 with Highest Distinction. In 1996 she earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching: Elementary Education from Trenton State College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts, English major and a business minor.
Since 2006, Dr. Orlando has served as a part-time Adjunct Professor for the School of Education at Drexel
University, teaching classes in Computer Applications in Curriculum Development, Multimedia in Instructional Design, Student Teacher Field Placement & Current Research in Curriculum and Instruction.

She is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and Phi Delta Kappa International Professional Association in Education and has actively participated in many educational development conferences, seminars and leadership programs during her career.
Dr. Orlando is a Bucks County resident. She is married and has two daughters.
