New Skate Park Coming To Middletown: Report
Groundbreaking on the new park is set for Aug. 12 and it's scheduled to be complete by October.
MIDDLETOWN, PA — Supervisors in Middletown have approved the construction of a new skate park at Middletown's Community Park.
The Intelligencer reports that supervisors approved the 8,600-square-foot concrete facility for skateboarders and BMX bike riders last week. It is scheduled to be complete by October.
Supervisors awarded the construction contract to 5th Pocket Skateparks of Langhorne, the paper reports. The township also plans to put in senior fitness equipment, new surfacing for the park's playground and an interactive kickball wall, according to the report.

The project will cost $325,000. Over the past four years, a committee raised $72,000 in donations and the rest will be paid by Middletown and a matching $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Intelligencer reports.
Groundbreaking on the new park is set for Aug. 12. It will replace the township's first skate park, which lasted from 2002-2015. It was shut down because damage made it unsafe.
