PECO Releases Details On Old Lincoln Highway Road Work

Old Lincoln Highway will not be closed for the duration of the project, a PECO spokesperson said.

PECO has released additional details about a natural gas main replacement project set to begin next week on Old Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township.

The project will most likely take until early January to complete, according to PECO. "We will be replacing a total of about 3,200 lineal feet of main and several service lines," PECO spokesman Greg Smore said.

However, Old Lincoln Highway will not be closed for the duration of the project, Smore clarified.

"We are planning to use a detour at the intersection of Old Lincoln Hwy and Brownsville Rd for several days, currently scheduled for December. During the course of the rest of the work, there will be one lane closed with flaggers to aid the flow of traffic, but no complete road closures," Smore said.

  • Brownsville Rd. between Broadview Ave. and Old Lincoln Hwy.
  • Old Lincoln Hwy between Brownsville Rd. and Hulmeville Rd.
  • Hulmeville Rd. between Old Lincoln Hwy and Richardson Ave.
  • Richardson Ave. between Hulmeville Rd. and Robinwood Dr.

Smore says the work is part of our multi-year plan to modernize PECO’s natural gas system to enhance safety and service reliability by upgrading existing natural gas main and service lines.
