FAIRLESS HILLS, PA —"Totally Rad."

It's a phrase from the 1980s and the theme for Pennsbury High School's Senior Prom Saturday at the Pennsbury High School East Campus on 705 Hood Blvd.

Named “Best Prom in America” by Reader’s Digest, this year's theme will focus on “Prom to the Eighties.”

School officials said the theme is a Pennsbury’s homage to the popular decade of the 1980s that was defined by vibrant pop culture, technological advancements, political shifts, and significant social changes.

As Pennsbury High seniors will dine and dance the night away, which entertainer will celebrate with the Class of 2023? Past performers have included John Mayer, Maroon 5, DJ Paul D of Jersey Shore, and Questlove.

Every inch of Pennsbury High School’s first-floor halls will be covered in decorations and murals created by students, staff, parents, and community members, all with a 1980's flair, highlighting music, movies, and pop culture.

The main hallway outside of the cafeteria will be transformed into the Imperial Battle Cruiser from the Star Wars movie, "The Empire Strikes Back," and include a replica of R2D2, courtesy of the Pennsbury Robotics Team.

There will also be a scale model Trans Am that transforms into a 22-foot tall Falcon, a tribute to the school’s mascot and the popular cartoon “Transformers.” A replica of the Delorean from "Back to the Future" will fly overhead as students dance the night away in the gymnasium.

Pennsbury’s prom is known for its elaborate decorations.

In 2019, the school shattered the Guinness World Record for the most lipstick kiss prints on a mural. The 63-foot-long, 11-foot-high 3D mural, which used 41,692 kisses, spelled out "Rock Music" to fit the theme of "Prom to the Music."

The creation of the mural took a village, with students and community members creating kiss prints during sporting events, special school events, prom committee meetings, and in their own homes.

The prom culminates months of planning and decorating by scores of students and their parents and teachers. A long-standing, popular tradition, the prom decorating also attracts local community members who participate as alumni and also parents of alumni.
