Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation Names New Member

Mary-Anne Smith is a Yardley resident and 1985 graduate of Pennsbury High School.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation has named a new member to its board.

Mary-Anne Smith has recently joined the board of the non-profit organization.

The board said that Smith will bring several specialized skills and talents to the Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation, particularly in the areas of nonprofit marketing, communications, and fundraising.

Throughout her career, she has worked with social service agencies, educational institutions, and cultural organizations in both Philadelphia and New York City, the board said in a statement.

These include the Urban Affairs Coalition, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

She is currently the Director of Communications for Interfaith Philadelphia, an organization that promotes social harmony and inter-religious understanding in our region.

Smith has volunteered for local nonprofits including Foundation Academies Charter School and the Trenton Literacy Movement. She holds an MA from Columbia University’s Teachers College and a BFA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Smith lives in Yardley with her husband and son (a 5th grader at Makefield Elementary) She graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1985.

“I am eager to leverage my skills and passions to support the Foundation's endeavors,” Smith said.

The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation is committed to helping graduates of Pennsbury High School pay for their post-secondary education.

Since its founding in 1956, the PSF has awarded about $3.7 million to more than 1,900 students.

PSF is considered to be the oldest scholarship foundation in the nation for a public school, and boasts of many outstanding former award winners and namesake scholarship creators.
