Scholarship Fundraiser 5K Run and Walk Sunday In Middletown

On Sunday, Nov. 6, the Middletown Community Foundation will partner with Inspire Credit Union to host a run to raise funds for scholarships with the 5 Mile Scholarship Trot and 2 Mile Fun Walk will start at 8 a.m. at Neshaminy High School.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Middletown Community Foundation's Scholarship Program, which has donated over $160,000 since 2002 to students who perform community service. Group discounts and reduced rates for high school track and cross country teams are available.

Participants can register at the Community Foundation's website where additional information on the event is available.

The race will be chip-timed and live results will be posted, with awards for individual age groups as well as the fastest overall male and female.

The race will begin and end at the Neshaminy High School, 2001 Old Lincoln Highway, Langhorne.

The route goes up Old Lincoln Highway then down West Gillam to about Parkvale Avenue. The runners will then turn around and head back down Old Lincoln to the Idlewood section up Ravine Avenue and Deer Drive and then out to Fairhill Avenue before returning to the high school.

The race will require the closing of portions of Old Lincoln Highway and West Gillam Avenue for about an hour, police said. The detours are Hulmeville Road to the Route 1 Access Road, and Highland Avenue to the Route 1 Access Road, police said.
