"Melissa and I were raising 7 wonderful kids together before the tragedy snatched her from her loved ones and I. Melissa enjoyed, decorating, attending her children’s sporting events and holiday activities with family," Carroll said.
Carroll said that his wife enjoyed her job at Truman.
"The best part of her day was engaging with students and helping teachers to make a difference in children’s lives. Family members, co-workers, and even friends understood how much Melissa respected and appreciated everyone while touching people with her warm heart, kindness, and compassion," he said.
The district’s Crisis Team, counselors, and emotional support staff will be available to support families, students, and staff when school reopens on Monday.
