Sesame Place Opening New Theme Park Attractions

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —Sesame Place hopes to make a splash this Memorial Day holiday weekend with the debut of some new theme park attractions and a fireworks show.

Sesame Place Philadelphia is celebrating its "Most Splashtacular Season Ever" this weekend with grand opening events, and giveaways.

On Friday, select water attractions will be open.

But on Saturday, the park at 100 Sesame Rd., Langhorne, will officially debut its new Bert & Ernie’s Splashy Shores and new tropical-themed land, Big Bird’s Beach, with a grand opening celebration.

Bert & Ernie’s Splashy Shores, nestled within Big Bird’s Rambling River on Sesame Island, includes such water fun as tipping buckets and spraying jets.

Meanwhile, the seaside oasis of Big Bird’s Beach includes water slides, a family-friendly wave pool, and a splash and spray area. Recently renovated, Big Bird’s Beach Cabanas will also be available.

The park will also debut the new Small Talk with Big Bird, an enhanced Meet and Greet experience with Sesame Street’s tallest feathered friend, at Big Bird’s Nest on Saturday.

Grand opening events will include music, VIP giveaways, and, of course, the park's furry friends.

Activities include:

  • Grand Opening Ceremony —At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, guests are invited to gather at the entryway to Big Bird’s Beach to officially open the new attractions.
  • Splashtastic Beach Bash —Right after the grand opening ceremony, guests can visit Sesame Island for a bubble-filled dance party until noon.
  • Lucky Duck Giveaway —Guests will have a chance to win prizes in this game of chance. Prizes include Sesame Cash, Sesame Street-themed merchandise, and more. One prize per guest, while supplies last.
  • Meet & Greets —Guests can meet and take photos with some of their favorite Sesame Street friends in their new beach attire.
  • VIP Giveaways —Guests will receive a welcome lei upon entry to the park. Season Pass Members can also stop by Sesame Studio Theater between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to receive a FREE Cookie Monster towel to celebrate the occasion in style! Giveaways are first-come, first served, while supplies last. One per guest.
  • Splashtacular Treat —Guests can stop by Cookie Monster’s Funnel Cakes and more for a refreshing, event-exclusive treat.

On Saturday and Sunday, guests can take photos with Elmo dressed in his patriotic red, white, and blue attire to celebrate Memorial Day.

A 9 p.m. Sunday, the spectacular “C is for Celebrate” Fireworks display will light up the night sky.

Park hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
