Several Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash On Route 1 In Falls Twp.
Falls Township Police said the crash on southbound Route 1 Wednesday afternoon led to the amputation of a woman's arm.
FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash on southbound Route 1 Wednesday afternoon that injured several people, including the amputation of a woman's arm.
Falls Township Police responded at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Route 1, a quarter mile north of the Oxford Valley Road exit, to investigate an accident involving entrapment and injuries.
Police said its preliminary investigation determined that a 44-year-old Williamsport man, driving a Jeep Cherokee, was following a Honda Coupe, operated by a 28-year-old Trenton, N.J., man at an unsafe distance as both traveled in the left lane.

The Jeep Cherokee then passed the Honda Coupe by utilizing the right lane after which he pulled in front of the Honda Coupe in the left lane, police said.
The Honda coupe then entered into the left shoulder and appeared to attempt to overtake the Jeep Cherokee during which time he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the vehicle.

As a result, both vehicles entered the right lane during which time a Honda minivan, with five male and female Trenton, N.J., residents collided with the Honda Coupe, sending both vehicles off the road into a wooded area.
All five occupants of the Honda minivan were taken to Capital Health, Jefferson Bucks, and Saint Mary Medical Center for injuries.
A female victim believed to be in her 20s had her right arm amputated just below her shoulder and was later flown to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital for advanced treatment. No other injuries were critical.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was uninjured while the the driver of the Honda Coupe was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center for minor injuries.
Alcohol, drugs, or a medical emergency are not believed to be factors in the accident.
