State Rep. Tina Davis To Host Child Custody Hearing

The hearing will address custody in child abuse and domestic violence cases and comes in the wake of a Bucks County girl's death.

LEVITTOWN, PA — State Rep. Tina Davis will be hosting a public hearing Monday on child-custody issues related to domestic violence and child abuse allegations.

The hearing, of the House Democratic Policy Committee, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Middletown Township Muncipal Building, at 3 Municipal Way in Langhorne.

Davis has sponsored two bills addressing the issue. One of them would update court procedures in child-custody cases when abuse or domestic violence is involved and the other is designed to improve custody and visitation rulings in those cases.

Davis, a Democrat from Croydon, will be joined by lawmakers from across the state, including the committee's chairman, Rep. Mike Sturla of Lancaster.

Among the speakers at the hearing will be Kathryn Sherlock, the mother of Kayden Mancuso. Kayden, 7, of Lower Makefield,was killed last month during a court-ordered visit with her father, who had a documented history of violent outbursts, including an assault arrest.

The meeting is one in a series being held across the state on what House Democrats call "Plan4PA," a package of jobs, healthcare, schools and economic legislation.
