Tesla Destroyed In Falls Township Fire

The Falls Township Fire Company said an EV blanket was used to prevent the lithium ion battery from continuing to burn.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —A Tesla was destroyed in a fire Tuesday night in which crews used a blanket to prevent the lithium ion battery from burning, authorities said.

The Falls Township Fire Company No. 1 said it encountered a first for its members.

Fire crews responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday night, arriving to find a Tesla slated for scrap completely on fire.

Rescue 30’s crew placed a handline in service to extinguish the fire. Engine 30, 98, and 32 also responded to supply additional water to the scene.

Upon identification of the type of vehicle, the Third District Volunteer Fire Company Station 14 responded to the scene with an EV Blanket used to prevent the lithium ion battery from continuing to burn.

The car was dragged to an area far away from any other vehicles and covered with the EV Blanket.

The Morrisville Fire Company and Levittown Fire Company #1 also assisted in the fire.

The fire company did not provide details for when and where the fire took place or the cause of the fire.
